Uncivil War - "The Hill We Climb" Response

Sometimes the hill we climb
Can feel like a cliff
Dredging slowly through the foliage, trying to reach the precipice
Sometimes we attempt to climb the hill
But we slowly slip back
Thrown once again to the bottom
Tired of trying, rotting
Sometimes we take 3 steps and we’re there
But really, we’re hanging in midair
Not self aware
We thought we were peaked
Some still say we are
But take a step back
It’s a pretty uncivil war
Acknowledge the good, the bad, and the room to improve
American exceptionalism is not the move
Acknowledge the struggle, the fight, the divide
The men women and children struggling to survive
Because truly, the hill we climb
Takes the world
Takes the country, the boys and the girls
The hill we climb takes more than 3 strides
Open your eyes
It may take a lifetime
Some get discouraged
But muster your courage, for this country must flourish
And to get us there, fall out of midair
Join the people rotting at the bottom and the people that have been forgotten, and the people dredging up the slowly through the land once untrodden
Because even though we need a boost
The progress possible must be introduced
So say, “Hi, hello!” and strap in for the ride
Because the hill we climb is more than worth the time
It’s a pretty uncivil war 👏
